Our goal is to bring trauma informed Yoga Therapy disciplines to all manner of providers, whether they are new to their field, or are long standing practitioners. To this goal we offer three levels of certification. The higher the level, the more elements are required.

Sundara Yoga Therapy’s Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy trainings are broken into distinct levels. Each level requires specific modules which are named after the elements:

  • Earth (Level I)
  • Water (Level II)
  • Fire, Air and Ether (Level III)

Please review the self-inquiry work and schedule options before registering.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU APPLY:

  • 100% attendance is required. If an emergency arises, we will help place you in a later cohort session.
  • We do not record the Webinar “live” meetings for participants to view later. In-person attendance is required in all sessions.
  • We have an education platform that houses all materials required for the training. Participants will have access to the education platform for 18 months from the start date of the program they enter.
  • There are four meetings that last 5 hours each. There are NO make-up hours available, so be certain you are available for all of the hours listed.
  • Our accreditors require “live” participation on our Zoom meetings.

Self Inquiry #1

This training is not a trauma resolution training for participants – we expect participants to have a strong sense of self and an ability to self-regulate.

Do you feel you have the inner resources and have come far enough along in your own journey that you are able to let go of your personal narrative?

Some indications that this training is not ideal for you:

Do you educate or “help” others unsolicited?

Are you uncertain of how to let go of your personal narrative?

Do you feel you have more knowledge than others?

Is it important to you that others know how much you know?

Self Inquiry #2

This field draws empathic people who want to help make a difference in other people’s lives; empathic people are vulnerable to secondary and vicarious trauma and may end up carrying an emotional burden instead of helping guide another person to work through their own journey.

Do you have a clear understanding of why you want to work with people who have experienced trauma?

Some indications that this training is not ideal for you:

Do you relate to wanting to stop someone’s pain and feel responsible for “fixing” someone’s life?

Do you do things for people that they should be doing themselves?

This type of enmeshment adds more levels of injury to both the client and the facilitator. It is important to do some self-inquiry on boundaries and enmeshment.

Self Inquiry #3

Privilege and power differentials are a major source of trauma for others around a person expressing one or both.

Do you understand privilege from a social equity perspective?

Some indications that this training is not ideal for you:

Do you expect exceptions to be made for you and your circumstance regardless of agreeing to boundaries and guidelines established prior to registration?

Do you get frustrated when listening to a differing opinion, or if you aren’t able to give your opinion on all topics?

Do you feel that you do not need to do the self-reflection required to uncover racial inequity in our social structures and institutions?
