Shanti Uganda Project
The Journey of 108 Beads Project
The Beads are on their way to Fort Worth, TX
A mala of 108 beads, made and strung by Ugandan women working with the Shanti Uganda Society, began a journey across North America earlier this year. It is now in Austin, Texas, at Sundara Yoga Therapy.
The Shanti Uganda Society works to improve the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of communities impacted by poverty, HIV/AIDS, and war in Uganda. Its work centers on holistic health, offering expressive arts and yoga, teen girls' health programs, and organic farming projects, as well as educational workshops for midwives and traditional birth attendants, providing birth supplies and safe birth homes. It creates income-generating activities and offers training for HIV positive women, and a university scholarship program for young adults.
The Beads were in Austin until December 5th, and now are on their way to Fort Worth, TX. Please donate if you are so inspired. Donations can be made directly to the Shanti Uganda Society via their website: shantiuganda.org/products/donation
